EA Says It Won't Put Suda 51 On A Leash With Latest Project

by Jeff Cork on Aug 23, 2010 at 06:51 AM

EA Partners is sensitive to fears that the publisher might meddle with Suda 51's latest project. EA Partners' David DeMartini said in an interview that his organization wasn't going to be getting in the way of the No More Heroes creator's notoriously offbeat process. "The key thing is not for us to tone down Suda or try and Westernise Suda, but to try and make sure the game gets broad enough exposure that more people appreciate it," DeMartini told Eurogamer.

DeMartini added that EA's marketing budget would be used to ensure that as many Western players as possible had a chance to play the untitled horror game, which was announced in 2008 and being developed with help from Resident Evil creator Shinki Mikami. Eurogamer says more details could be known soon. When asked by the site if it made sense to announce more information about the project at this year's TGS, DeMartini simply responded, "Yes."

It's good to hear that EA Partners will be promoting the heck out of this game, but until we know more it's impossible to say how much that matters. Double Fine's game Brutal Legend was heavily promoted in the lead-up to its release, with a constant barrage of TV appearances by voice actor Jack Black, but that didn't seem to matter all that much in the end.

We may know more at Tokyo Game Show. We've got a crew heading over to Japan next month, and we'll be sure to pass along any information we get from the event.
