Mass Effect 2 Coming To The PS3

"The wait is over," said BioWare's Ray Muzyka from the stage at the Gamescom event in Germany. Electronic Arts announced that BioWare's lauded console RPG Mass Effect 2 is coming to the PS3.

The PS3 version of the game comes out January 2011, although Muzyka didn't specify whether that date was worldwide or just for Europe.

Once an Xbox 360 exclusive, the defection of Mass Effect 2 – and perhaps the rest of the series – is a huge blow for Microsoft. Of course, with the ability to transfer your character from one Mass Effect game to another, it only makes sense that Mass Effect 3 will also appear on the PS3 in the future.

UPDATE: The North American press release for the game says it'll come out here in January.
