Proving that either Blizzard is great at giving people what they want, or that its community is a demanding bunch (or both!), the company says that it will be letting players change one of their StarCraft II character names for free.

This rather innocuous situation arises from the fact that apparently some people were unaware that the character names they chose would be used for multiplayer gamers, forum usage, etc. "It's important to us that everyone is represented by a name of their choosing," read a statement on Blizzard's website. In addition, the company says: "Beyond this initial free name change, we'll be launching a service similar to the one we offer for World of Warcraft which will allow additional character name changes for a fee. We'll announce more details on how the free name change and additional paid character name changes will be implemented in the near future."

Perhaps it's not too late for Blizzard to change the name Jim Raynor. We'd even do that for free.
