Ed Fries has gone back to his first love – making 2600 games – and combined that with the franchise he helped launch: Halo. The result is a 2600 game you can play on your browser or via 2600 cart. The game features Master Chief, Elites, 64 rooms, a final boss, and that old 2600 smell.

On the game's Facebook page, Fries recounts making the game, and it sounds like he had a pretty tough time trying to wring all he could out of the system. He says he originally planned for a Warthog level with Banshees dropping bombs overhead, but this had to be axed. It's a pretty interesting read; highlighting some of the challenges of game development.
