At a recent EA event, the company announced its support of the Nintendo 3DS with upcoming Madden, FIFA, and Sims titles for the 3D handheld. EA COO John Schappert is one in a long line of admirers of the system, and that should translate into support for the 3DS.

In an interview with Industry Gamers, Schappert gushed about the handheld. "The 3DS is just incredibly cool," he said. "The 3DS is magical. You put that in your hand, you look down, and all of a sudden it's in 3D without glasses. That's an amazing experience. I'm a huge fan. I think that device is going to sell like hot cakes. I think it's going to do incredibly well, and in typical Nintendo fashion, they have re-energized the industry, yet again."

As for the PSP, Schappert was...kind. "I hope they're able to breath new life into [the PSP] because it's been a very nice platform to date, but it has been soft of late."

Electronic Arts has a history of supporting most platforms, and in turn those systems benefit from having some of the company's heavy hitters on its side. As with all publishers, it'll be interesting to see what games EA decides work best in 3D with the glasses-free handheld.
