Scott Pilgrim Movie Mines Video Game Soundtracks
At Universal's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World panel, director Edgar Wright happily declared that Scott Pilgrim would be shown in glasses-free 2D, Shaun of the Dead stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost made surprise appearances, and Michael Cera showed up in a Captain America outfit. But the most important thing we learned is that Wright likes video game soundtracks.
Scott Pilgrim director came onstage and said that he appreciates all the video game references in Brian Lee O'Malley's popular Scott Pilgrim series and wanted wanted the film to be chock-full of just as much geek culture. To that end, musically inclined gamers will likely recognize sounds from the Sonic, Mario, and Tekken series, as these were all tapped while editing the film.
Also, the film looks amazing. Get ready for cinemas new Citizen Kane.
