Rare Final Fantasy Orb On Ebay For $250,000

by Matt Helgeson on Jul 21, 2010 at 06:34 AM

How much do you love Final Fantasy? Enough to drop $250,000 on this lead crystal etched orb? If you have the means, now is your chance to purchase this ultra-rare piece of video game history.

According to the Ebay auction page, this is one of 50 Final Fantasy orbs produced by the Kusak Cut Glass Works in Seattle, Washington. The auction description says the orbs were given away as part of a Final Fantasy contest in Issue 16 (September/October 1990) of Nintendo Power, and that the mold that created the orbs was destroyed after a production run of 50.

While that's a pretty hefty price tag, at least the seller is willing to provide some authentic documentation, including the original box, note from Nintendo Power, and the issue of the magazine that the contest ran in. This thing looks legit – legit and expensive.

The pictures below offer further proof that this cool piece of video game memorabilia is real.
