Chris Redfield’s Voice Actor To Take On Sonic

by Tim Turi on Jul 16, 2010 at 09:55 AM

Big news, folks. Sonic’s old voice actor is out of the picture! He’s being replaced by a man named Roger Craig Smith, who you may already know from a couple small games called Resident Evil 5 and Assassin’s Creed II.

That’s right, the voice of Chris Redfield and Ezio Auditore da Firenze will be bringing the pipes of the speedy blue hedgehog to life. He’s also done work in Valkyria Chronicles, SoulCaliber IV, and Naruto. He replaces the previous actor to voice the nasally hedgehog, Jason Griffith, who has also done a ton of work on the Pokémon series.

Sonic’s pal, Tails, is also getting some new talent. Kate Higgins, who has played Sakura Haruno of Naruto, will be voicing the multi-tailed fox. She replaces Amy Palant, who was also in Pokémon.

Dr. Robotnik will continue to be voiced by Mike Pollock, however. We’re happy for that, because we imagine Eggman’s jowl-flapping would be pretty hard to replicate.
