Mario Speedrun Like Nothing You’ve Seen Before

by Meagan Marie on Jul 09, 2010 at 04:44 AM

The ingenuity of fans – especially those dedicated to the longtime franchise – never ceases to amaze us. Combining a hefty dose of creativity, some camera equipment, and an impressive understanding of the post-production process, recent graduate Andreas Heikaus put together a Bachelor thesis worthy of admiration. Check out his Super Mario Bros. speedrun below.

Heikaus – just out of University in Germany – specializes in Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, and Boujou. The Mario speedrun was part of his Bachelor thesis at the University of Applied Science and Art in Hannover, constructed under the parameters of blending CG and live-action footage.

It’s worth checking out some of Heikaus’ other work via his Vimeo channel, which includes a music video staring dancing Storm Troopers and a reel showcasing some of his prior projects.

Congratulations Andreas. Hopefully we’re not the only ones who’ve taken notice of your impressive work.
