Second StarCraft II Beta Starting Soon

by Phil Kollar on Jul 07, 2010 at 01:15 PM

The long-awaited final retail release of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is mere weeks away, but that's not going to stop Blizzard from giving fans one more taste of the game's multiplayer in beta form.

Though the original StarCraft II beta ended a while ago, Blizzard said at the time that they would launch a second phase a few weeks before the game's release. According to reports coming in from the StarCraft community, that time is now. European sources are saying that their beta clients are updating, although patch notes have not yet been released. The beta remains unplayable at this point, but with patches starting to go out, it could go live at any time.

I'm excited to spend a bit more time with StarCraft II, but honestly, after years of waiting, I'm ready to forego the daily Zerg rush and hit up the single-player campaign.
