Epic Denies Abandoning PC Gamers, Plans Mobile and Tablet Expansions

by Matt Bertz on Jul 06, 2010 at 04:16 PM

Not content with flexing its considerable development chops on the consoles and PC, Epic vice president Mark Rein says the company has plans for expanding to both the mobile phone and tablet markets as well.

In an interview with the PC gaming blog Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Rein acknowledged Epic's plans for the fledgling platforms, saying "We haven't announced anything yet, but it's due."

With the Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War franchise the freshest Epic success story on gamers' minds, the company is starting to field questions about abandoning the PC platform as well. Rein called this notion a "myth," saying "it’s just not true. I mean, Bulletstorm is coming out on three platforms; we’ve just been in this situation where our biggest franchise has been published by a console-holder, and was a very console designed IP. I wouldn’t want people to mistake that for our intentions or our interests, because we’re very much into the PC game business."
