Seth Green Collects Paycheck In Dragon Quest IX Commercial

by Jeff Cork on Jun 30, 2010 at 03:12 AM

A new Dragon Quest game is coming to the U.S. on July 11, and Nintendo is trying to figure out how to get Americans excited. Here’s the solution they arrived at: Throw Seth Green at the problem. You might know Seth Green from Robot Chicken or Family Guy or Mass Effect or Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Austin Powers or some other things. Green will appear in a couple of TV spots for the RPG, “[using] examples of the game’s deep customization options to help teens make decisions about which friend they should take to a concert, and what to wear on a date,” according to the press release. The ads are currently airing on television, and they’ll also be shown before screenings of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in theaters.

It’s interesting to see that Nintendo is targeting this one squarely at teenage girls. That’s not to say that dilemmas about taking friends to concerts or what to wear on dates aren’t universal issues that we all face. It’s just interesting, that’s all.
