Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium Teased At E3

by Adam Biessener on Jun 17, 2010 at 12:30 PM

The storied Warhammer 40,000 franchise can’t catch a break when it comes to MMORPGs. THQ and Vigil Games hope to change that with this title, even if they’re not sharing how yet. The trailer below is worth watching even so.

The only details we could pry out of the Vigil developers on the show floor were very vague. They’re “big fans of the IP.” They “get [Warhammer owners Games Workshop’s] approval on pretty much every creative decision [they] make.” Dark Millenium is targeted at “core MMO players and Warhammer 40,000 fans.” These aren’t bad qualities, but they sure don’t tell us much about the game itself.

The only hint at gameplay in the trailer is a brief scene where it appears to be played from a third-person perspective, with a reticle in the middle of the screen implying that shooter mechanics are at play. Anything that points toward Dark Millenium not being just another WoW/EverQuest/Ultima Online clone is good news in our book.

THQ has not yet announced a release date for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium.
