LittleBigPlanet 2 Is Ridiculously Versatile

by Joe Juba on Jun 15, 2010 at 10:39 AM

The original LittleBigPlanet already gave players access to a wide array of creation tools, but the demo of LittleBigPlanet 2 at Sony's press conference makes the first title look small in comparison.

Media Molecule's Alex Evans took the stage to showcase the sheer variety of games that users will be able to create with LBP 2's toolset. One game was called Super Block Race, which had four players competing to press a series of buttons in sequence. Evans also showed a top-down bumper car game dubbed Crashy Crash, where players were trying to bounce each other off the edge to score points. Lastly, Evans explained Rocket Arena -- a 2D platform brawler that has players shooting rockets at each other thanks to an item called the Creatinator, a hat Sackboy can wear that is programmed to emit certain objects on command.

These games were just the tip of the iceberg. The LBP 2 toolset can be used to create 2D shooters, real-time strategy, and even racing games. With so many possibilities, we can't wait to see what the gaming community comes up with when LittleBigPlanet 2 hits shelves.
