Microsoft Plays Kinect Joyride Live

by Tim Turi on Jun 14, 2010 at 08:57 AM

Last night we saw a 360 kart racer called Joyride in action for the first time. Now we've seen a closer look at the Kinect, motion-controlled racer at the Microsoft press conference, and it's looking pretty fun.

The game is bright and colorful, with the demonstrator's Avatar driving in a huge luxury car your grandparents would approve of. She controlled the car by miming steering motions in realtime. By physically twirling around and ducking, the demonstrator managed to pull of tricky stunts in the car after catching air on jumps and half-pipes.

Tsunoda revealed that Joyride will have five modes, one of which will be Stunt Mode. In this rather self-explanatory mode drivers work to pull off as many stunts as possible by being very active and wriggling around like their pants are smoldering.
