Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Map Pack Deploys On Xbox Live

by Matt Bertz on Jun 03, 2010 at 10:05 AM

Cure your mapathy by downloading the second map pack for Activision's unstoppable multiplayer machine. For $15 (or 1,200 carnival tickets Microsoft points) you can get your hands on three brand new maps, plus two renovated old-favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare:

  • Carnival - A desolate amusement park turned shooting range
  • Fuel - A sniper friendly oil refinery
  • Trailer Park - Sunnyvale Trailer Park gets its day in the sun with tightly packed trailers and maze like corridors
  • Vacant - An interior office complex from Call of Duty 4 that should minimize the effectiveness of air strikes
  • Strike - A large, urban desert town from Call of Duty 4

Many people on the internet decried the $15 pricetag for the first map pack, but that didn't stop Acitivision from raking in the dough. Though Xbox Live financials are hard to corroborate considering Microsoft doesn't share sales data with the public, Activision claims the Stimulus Package "shattered Xbox Live records" with more than one million sales within the first 24 hours and 2.5 million sales after one week.

To entice AWOL solidiers to return to duty and pony up the cash for the new map pack, Activision is also awarding double XP over the weekend, beginning June 4. PlayStation 3 and PC owners will have to wait a month or so to jump into the action. Are you enlisting?
