Analyst: PS3 Will Outsell 360 In 2010

by Matthew Kato on May 27, 2010 at 04:35 AM

According to David Mercer at Strategy Analytics, the PlayStation 3 led the Xbox 360 in worldwide sales for the first quarter of this year, and it should continue to outsell Microsoft's console in 2010.

With 2.2 million units sold worldwide in the first quarter of this year, the PS3 outpaced the Xbox 360 (1.5 million) but fell short of the Wii (3.5 million). "The Ps3 continues to benefit from the price cut last September," says principal analyst, David Mercer. "This should help the PS3 maintain growth momentum throughout 2010. The introduction of the Natal technology should also help re-energize Microsoft's Xbox 360 platform in the second-half of the year."

Mercer continues, predicting that by the end of 2010, the PS3 will sell 14 million units, the 360 10.5 million, and the Wii 17.5 million.
