THQ Starts Up Partners Program

by Matthew Kato on May 26, 2010 at 04:45 AM

Similar to EA's successful EA Partners program, UFC publisher THQ is starting its own THQ Partners program.

THQ Partners will help selected developers and publishers broaden their exposure by using THQ's global publishing and online distribution network. THQ's initial description of THQ Partners is pretty vague, but it it's anything like EA Partners, we expect the publisher/developer to announce deals with some high-profile games in an attempt to help those titles reach a broader audience in return for THQ getting a slice of the profit and acclaim. To what extent THQ Partners will aid those games with development assistance, technology, start-up money, etc. is unknown. Yesterday, EA Partners announced a deal with Ratchet & Clank developers Insomniac, and before that with Jason West and Vince Zampella's Respawn Entertainment.

This new initiative will be led by Tim Walsh who was recently the executive vice president of publisher relations at in-game advertising agency IGA Worldwide.
