Mario Revisits 64’s ‘Whomp’s Fortress’ Level

It’s too early to be smiling, isn’t it? Well, blame Nintendo. Joystiq has pointed us toward a clip from Super Mario Galaxy 2, and we can’t stop grinning. The latest Mario outing has our hero return to his 3D roots with an homage to the classic Super Mario 64 level Whomp’s Fortress. It’s a shockingly faithful recreation of the level, right down to the bouncy soundtrack. All right. Now we can get back to being grumpy again. Whew.
