Weekend Warrior 05/14/10

by Annette Gonzalez on May 14, 2010 at 01:30 PM

We've got a wide range of games on editor lists this weekend. Old, new, borrowed, you get it. Some of us are playing in groups, others are having solo sessions. Whatever the case read on to find out what we're playing, then head over to the comments section and share your weekend gaming activities.

Tim: I’ll be kicking off this weekend by playing the most ridiculously amazing PS1 game that you never heard of. I’ll likely be imbibing adult beverages simultaneously. When not doing that thing, I’ll be playing more Dragon Age: Origins (so good!) and Mega Man Zero. I’m nearly done with MMZ 3! Also, I’ve reached Misty in my super-slow crawl through Pokémon FIreRed Version. My Ivysaur just isn’t cutting it against her water Pokémon, so I’m gonna have to level up my Pocket Munsters a bit.

Bryan: For some stupid reason, Dan, Tim, and I are playing Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman on Friday night. I’ve only got one level left in Splinter Cell: Conviction and I’ll hopefully finish off a co-op campaign session of Gears of War 2 with Cork.

Jeff M: This weekend I’ll try to forget how much I want to play Red Dead by spending more time exploring LittleBigPlanet’s awesome community levels. I’ll also finish my first competitive season in Tecmo Bowl Throwback, which despite being ridiculously simplistic is still surprisingly intense. Also, more blowing stuff up in Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Sean: Freshwater fishing for the first time since I was like 2. Will likely hook myself more than fish. Dreaming of Red Dead Redemption until 11:59:59 PM Monday.

Annette: This weekend my time will be spent playing Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow for review. I still have quite a bit of game left to complete so the challenge is on to finish by Monday! My travels in Mass Effect will have to wait...and it may have to wait some more once Red Dead hits next week.

Dan: Definitely looking forward to tonight, as I’ll be playing through Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman with Bryan and Tim. I used to pop it in all the time when I worked at GameStop back in high school, and I remember it being one of the most bizarre games I’ve ever seen. Tomorrow is yet another awesome Drinking Spelling Bee, and then Sunday I’m flying out to an undisclosed location for the next cover story.

Phil: OMG SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2. I think that’s all I’m allowed to say right now, but I’ll be playing as much of this new Nintendo platformer as I can this weekend. Unfortunately, my gaming time will be cut a little short due to visiting friends for college graduation, but I’m hoping to get in a little bit of Phoenix Wright on the road. I finished and loved the first game last year but have yet to get all the way through Justice For All. Better late than never!

Jeff A: I haven’t touched a game in over two weeks. I’m a failure. I keep on saying I’m going to finally wrap up Spirit Tracks only to have my DS collect more and more dust. Cripes. And Red Dead comes out next week, too. I’m in trouble. Ok, so once again I’m going to go out on a limb and say I’m going to sink my teeth into Spirit Tracks and nothing’s going to stop me. Here’s hoping that actually happens this time.

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
