Syfy Creating Red Faction Movie

Fans of Red Faction: Guerrilla have plenty to be happy about: Not only is a sequel in the works, but Syfy is in the process of creating a two-hour Red Faction movie, which could even lead to a television series.

Syfy Ventures senior VP Alan Seiffert discussed the decision with Broadcasting Cable, stating, "It is the kind of content that fits our genre...It is a great fit for a big Syfy Saturday movie, and if it really works, it is a great back-door pilot."

While I have a sneaking suspicion that the Red Faction movie is going to end up looking like a low-budget Total Recall, as long as it doesn't have any sharks in it, it will still be a step up for Syfy's current made-for-tv lineup. Besides, even if the movie is a flop, we'll get to blow more stuff up in its video game counterpart, right?
