Canada Gives Too Human Developer $4 Million

by Ben Reeves on Apr 13, 2010 at 07:19 AM

Silicon Knights' last title, Too Human, didn’t fare well at retail. Given the game’s lack of success and the general economic downturn, the studio has been facing some financial hardship. This has forced the Ontario-based developer to ask for financial assistance, and the Canadian government has stepped in to award Silicon Knights with a $4 million grant.

According to Gamesindustry.biz Silicon Knights argued that its continued business was good for Canada on the whole. Apparently Ontario Parliament Member Rick Dykstra agreed. "[Silicon Knights'] growth and their success is very important to our community,” said Dykstra. “Not only in terms of job creation but also in terms of attracting and retaining the types of highly skilled workers Niagara needs to prosper."

Silicon Knights has said that the money will help create 65 new jobs at the studio and will help fund its next, unannounced title. Since Too Human was originally planned as a trilogy we have to wonder if that means Silicon Knights will be working on Too Human 2, or if it will move on to a new IP. What would you rather see?
