Week In Review: 04/03

by Jeff Marchiafava on Apr 03, 2010 at 05:00 AM

This week's highlights include the final features of our Portal 2 coverage, a bunch of exclusive information on Halo: Reach, and more lame April Fools jokes than you can shake a stick at. Time for the Week In Review!

This week marks a new format for Week In Review, one that I hope you'll enjoy. Instead of spending all day condensing a week's worth of news into one big incoherent mess, I'll now introduce the most interesting, funniest, and just plain weird stories the industry has to offer in the form of two top ten lists. The first list will be purely GI exclusives, so you can see what we've been busy working on during the week. The second list will be what's been happening in the industry in general, so you can keep up on all the important news. Sound good? Let's begin.

This week's top ten Game Informer exclusives:

  1. Exclusive Interview On The Halo: Reach Sandbox:
Miller takes a look at just what exactly is going to be in the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta (be sure to check out our other Halo: Reach preview from this week, too).
  2. Portal Coverage Concludes:
We finished up our Portal 2 coverage with a video tour of Valve's studio, a revealing special edition Portal 2 podcast, and the recipe for Portal's infamous cake. We posted a bunch of brand new concept art, too.
  3. Game Breaking – The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Edition:
Joe Juba teaches you how to cheat without actually cheating in this new series. First up: how to make yourself invisible in Oblivion.
  4. Parody Or Reality? Game Infarcer Predicts Nintendo's Future:
Sometimes our ridiculous spoofs end up being not so ridiculous after all.
  5. Under The Radar: Wii Titles Worth Your Time:
Annette takes a look at some Wii games that don't suck.
  6. Hands-On With ModNation Racers:
Annette also tries out the customization options for Sony's upcoming DIY kart racer (check out these videos of the character customization and track builder, too).
  7. Games We Actually Want To Have Motion Controls:
Games that use motion controls usually end up sucking, but they don't have to. Here are some games we think could make good use of some physical gameplay.
  8. Enslaved Preview: An Odyssey Worth Experiencing:
Ben previews Ninja Theory's upcoming post apocalyptic action title about a man named Monkey. They had me at Monkey.
  9. Hands-On With Heavy Rain DLC:
Joe tries out the new Heavy Rain DLC and lets you know if it's worth buying or not.
  10. Oh Well...It's Tim Turi #2: Dance Party Edition:
My favorite recurring feature returns with Tim Turi showing off his embarrassingly bad dance moves while Dan secretly video taped him.

And now here are the top headlines from the week:

    1. Gaming's April Fools Bonanza
    2. New Screens Show Off Diversity Of Final Fantasy XIV's Character Creator
