Mario Madness Elite 8 Announced, Voting Is Live Now!

by Matt Helgeson on Mar 30, 2010 at 08:55 AM

Our Mario Madness tournament continues, and with the announcement of our Elite 8 finalists, things are getting serious. By now, a good many pretenders (and surprising number of all-time classics) are sitting on the pine, watching the action from the outside.

The last round of sixteen had some killer match-ups, with classic games like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World besting more recent smashes like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and and Super Mario Bros. DS. In the Yoshi Region, the original Super Mario Bros. bested Mario Kart Double Dash!!, while Paper Mario narrowly escaped Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island by only five votes.

As of today, there are eight games standing: Super Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros., Super Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, and Mario Kart 64. That’s a heavy list, so we look forward to some very close matches. Head on over to our Mario Madness hub page and get to clicking!
