Hendrix Now Exclusive To Rock Band, Full Album DLC Out Next Week
Harmonix and MTV Games have fired a salvo at the opposing Guitar Hero force with news that Jimi Hendrix’s music is now exclusive to Rock Band. Guitar Hero players were first to play Hendrix’s songs in, Guitar Hero World Tour, which featured a live version of “Purple Haze” and “The Wind Cries Mary,” and on disc, as well as a playable Hendrix character. Subsequent World Tour DLC included “Freedom,” “Angel,” and “Foxey Lady.” Rock Band first got its taste of Hendrix in last year’s Lego Rock Band, which featured the song “Fire.”
Along with the announcement, there’s the news that a full album from the Jimi Hendrix Experience is next week’s Rock Band DLC. Axis: Bold as Love includes 12 tracks, including “If 6 Was 9” and “Castles Made of Sand.” The opening album track, EXP won’t be included, since MTV Games and Harmonix say the spoken word track doesn’t lend itself to gameplay. The single “Valleys of Neptune,” from the newly released Hendrix album with the same name will also be available next week.
Here are the album details:
• “Up From the Skies”
• “Spanish Castle Magic” +
• “Wait Until Tomorrow” +
