Epic Games is opening a new studio in Tokyo, Japan. The new development house of the Gears of War powerhouse will be officially announced on April 15 at a  press conference.

According to Famitsu, the formal announcement will involve Epic CEO Tim Sweeney and Suda 51. Suda is the mastermind behind the No More Heroes franchise and is currently crafting a game using the Unreal Engine 3. Even Cliff “Don’t Call My Cliffy Anymore” Bleszinski will be participating via video message.

The purpose of the new Japanese branch of Epic is to bolster Unreal Engine 3's support in country. If we hope to see the engine used in more Japanese games than Last Remnant and Lost Odyssey, Epic’s new studio may be the ticket.
