Microsoft Releases Standalone 250 GB Hard Drive
Microsoft today announced that its 250 GB hard drive, previously available only through select hardware bundles, will be sold separately. Starting today, players can replace their 20, 60, or 120 GB drives with the 250 GB unit for $129.99. That’s the same price that the 120 GB drive was selling for. Skeptics are bound to note that comparable PC storage sells for a little less than half that price, but until other options are readily available it’ll have to do.
Microsoft has been encouraging players to install games onto their hard drives and download DLC, so it only makes sense to increase the storage space. What do you think? Are you close to reaching your current drive’s capacity? Do you plan on upgrading? Are you glad you have a PS3 and can upgrade your drive with off the shelf components?
