Is Rock & Roll Dead? GI's Music Survey

by Matthew Kato on Mar 10, 2010 at 11:40 AM

Game Informer recently picked the brains of over 1,500 people* to find out what they thought of the music video game genre. Playing habits, what kinds of songs they buy, and what they're looking forward to in the genre are just some of the topics we covered in our music survey featured in the April issue of Game Informer (#204).

Some highlights:

  • The Guitar Hero series edged out Rock Band as the favorite music franchise.
  • When asked how often they play music-based games, the majority of people responded: Not Often.
  • A good majority of those surveyed do not buy downloadable music for their music games.
  • A strong percentage of people hope that upcoming music games feature more realistic gameplay.
  • People are generally receptive to buying new instruments if they come with new gameplay functionality.
