NHL 2K11 Cover Athlete Revealed

by Matthew Kato on Mar 09, 2010 at 04:00 AM

First you hated playing against him whenever your team played the Canucks. Then you loved him for being on Team USA and scoring an awesome goal to dagger Canada in the early round. Of course, once the Olympics were over you went back to hating him. Well now you can love him again (maybe?) because he's on the cover of 2K Sports' NHL 2K11 for the Wii.

Vancouver Canucks center and Team USA standout Ryan Kesler is the cover star for this year's title. Last year he was a Selke Trophy finalist (given to the best defensive player), but that doesn't mean he can't put the puck in the net. In 2009 he scored 26 goals with 33 assists, and with 19 goals and 40 assists so far this year, he's currently on pace to top his best year. Kesler has previously worked with developer Visual Concepts to promote last year's game along with other players such as 2K10 cover star Alexander Ovechkin in an outdoor mo-cap skate in front of Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas (shown left).

This isn't the only news for the NHL 2K franchise, recently 2K Sports announced that this year's game would be Wii exclusive while the versions for the other consoles take a year off to reorganize.
