Wii Classic Controller Pro Coming Before Monster Hunter Tri?

by Bryan Vore on Mar 02, 2010 at 11:01 AM

According to a pre-order page on GameStop.com, both the standalone white and black editions of the new Wii classic controller pro will be available several weeks before the release of Monster Hunter Tri on April 20.

The listing indicates an April 1st release of the $20 peripheral -- though it may be a placeholder date. Amazon also lists the controllers, but offers a more vague release window: "Usually ships within 2 to 4 weeks." Until now, it seemed the pro would release simultaneously with Monster Hunter Tri, which includes a black pro in its $60 bundle pack.

The pro controller has a similar face to the Wii's classic controller (two analog sticks, four face buttons, etc.), but the hand grips and four shoulder buttons make it feel like a PlayStation 2 controller. It works with any game supported by the classic controller. I picked one up in Japan last year and it totally rules for virtual console titles like Contra ReBirth.

Who's thinking about picking this one up?
