Hustle Some Pool On PSN, A New Word Game For Live Arcade, And UNO Hits WiiWare

by Matt Miller on Jan 25, 2010 at 11:45 AM

The last week of January brings another batch of downloadable titles – we've got the low-down.

PlayStation Network has a new billiards game releasing on Thursday. Hustle Kings prides itself on offering an incredibly realistic experience. Straightforward, casual pool games are certainly the core of the game. However, the involved physics system allows for incredibly complicated tricks, like spins, masse, and curve shots. The game also looks stunning in action, thanks to some great reflections on the balls and highly detailed, close-shot angles on the table. Sony wants you to lay $9.99 down on the felt for this one.

KrissX (say Crisscross) is a fast, clever word game that is surprisingly addictive and fun. This new Xbox Live Arcade title is set to arrive on Wednesday for 800 points ($10). The crossword and word jumble-style puzzles have tremendous variety – the official details put the count at around 3,500 different words in game. However, any one of those words can show up in a nearly infinite variety of puzzles, mixed with other words. Taking a cue from PopCap's over-the-top rewards, scoring, and flashy graphics, KrissX pleases the eyes and ears with a constant supply of color and congratulations. Before you dismiss the game out of hand for its childlike visuals, give a few puzzles a try.

WiiWare has a few titles arriving this week. The most notable has been one of the most consistent sellers on Xbox Live Arcade, and it will now be available to the huge Wii consumer base: UNO. The classic card game has been faithfully reproduced here, but we were pleased to see the inclusion of both local and online multiplayer modes for up to six players. The classic family card game is available for 1000 Wii points ($10).

Also on the way to Wii this week are two other games,  bittos+ (a block-rotating puzzle game) for 800 Wii points ($8), and "Aha! I Found It!" Hidden Object Game, for 500 Wii points ($5). You can probably guess what that one's about.

Any of these going to get your hard-earned money this week?
