Sega Partners With Chiquita For Super Monkey Ball Promotion

by Tim Turi on Jan 19, 2010 at 03:21 PM

Sega wants to make sure that its upcoming Wii title, Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll, is marketed to the correct demographic. What's that demographic you ask? Banana-eaters.

People who enjoy eating the world's most perfect fruit will now have the pleasure of staring at the Super Monkey Ball Characters AiAi and MeeMee as they chow down. Over 180 million Chiquita bananas will sport the Sega game stickers. Conversely, gamers pretending to be a ball-balancing monkey in the upcoming game will be exposed to Chiquita advertisements encouraging them to eat more bananas.

There's also a sweepstakes being held, being called the... (brace yourself) ..."Super Bananza Sweepstakes." By entering at Chiquita's website you are put in the running for an awesome game room makeover. A 50-inch HDTV, a sofa, four gaming chairs, a Wii, and a Wii Fit Balance Board could all be yours. Oh yeah, you'd also win a copy of the new Super Monkey Ball game.

Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll is set for release on February 9, and will feature 70 new stages, 21 multiplayer mini-games, and co-op. Be cautious if you decide to pick up the game. I don't want to have to write future reports on an outbreak of banana peel-related Wii Balance Board accidents.
