Alienware Spawns Sub $1K Gaming Notebook

Today at the Dell CES press conference, the company introduced the newest member of the Alienware laptop lineup. The sleek Alienware M11x is the smallest gaming notebook the specialists have ever created, featuring an 11.6 inch display and weighing a scant four pounds. Most importantly, you won't have to sell your second kidney to the black market just to afford it. Unlike it's luxury priced brethren, the base M11x model costs less than a grand.

Powered by the Intel Core2Duo processor and an Nvidia GT 335M graphics processor with 1GB of dedicated memory, the M11x offers the portability of a thin-and-light notebook with the power needed to frag your way up the leaderboards in Modern Warfare 2. The switchable graphics allows users to turn of the dedicated graphics chip to achieve up to 6.5 hours of battery life. If players turn on the Nvidia chip to game, Dell says they can expect about two hours of playtime before the notebook needs a recharge.

To further drive home the power potential of this small and relatively affordable gaming notebook, Dell officials boasted the system can generate 50 frames per second in Crysis and up to 30 frames per second while running Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the high graphics settings. If you find the 11.6 inch display too small, simply run an HDMI cord to a television or monitor to gain more gaming real estate.

Look for this bad boy to go on sale within the month.
