EA Sports To Resurrect NBA Jam?

by Matt Bertz on Jan 04, 2010 at 12:35 PM

As one of the casualties of the Midway implosion, NBA Jam was believed to be more dead than the Timberwolves' chances at playoff basketball or profitability. If a source talking to ESPN can be trusted, however, the classic arcade basketball title may be rising from the dead with the help of a well known publisher, which is more than can be said for the moribund Minnesota franchise coached by this guy.

ESPN's unnamed source told the sports media empire that EA Sports has acquired the rights to the famed hoops game and that gamers can expect a new version in the near future. An updated version featuring classic and current players seems like a surefire Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network hit, right? We can only hope, but as of now the source says the game is planned as a Nintendo Wii exclusive.

The source expects EA Sports to formally announce the acquisition later this month. Looking at current team lineups, who would you choose to flex your two-on-two supremacy on the hardcourt?
