Wired: Duke Nukem Killed By Lack Of Focus, Paralysis

by Jeff Cork on Dec 22, 2009 at 05:46 AM

If you’ve followed the Duke Nukem Forever saga during the past dozen or so years, you know that it’s a story about hubris, disappointment and constantly shifting deadlines. The story is complicated and the timeline has been so long that it’s easy to forget how the pieces fit together, from the game’s announcement to 3D Realms’ falling out with Take-Two. Wired has a feature that tells a great deal of the story, and it’s definitely worth the read. There aren’t many revelations, but it’s a great cautionary tale of how George Broussard’s unrelenting goal of being the best paralyzed a project, costing more than $20 million and more than 12 years, with little to show for it all.

So we may never see Duke Nukem Forever, but does anyone think that the king of one-liners may return to the gaming landscape one day?
