Tykes Can Now Use Twitter, Facebook, Last.FM On Xbox 360

by Jeff Cork on Dec 16, 2009 at 04:43 AM

Here's a quick item that slipped through the cracks yesterday. Microsoft has now opened access to Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM to users who have child accounts on the Xbox 360. Those users will first have to get a parent's permission, but after getting that approval they'll have an entire world of pointless status updates and inane microblogs at their fingertips.

According to Microsoft's Major Nelson, parental controls were the reason that child accounts were barred outright from accessing the content. "We made this decision because as it stands now, parents aren’t able to use Family Settings to customize which of these applications their children can access," he wrote.
