Interplay Triumphs Over Bethesda In Fallout Case

by Tim Turi on Dec 14, 2009 at 05:35 AM

Legal disputes over Interplay’s Fallout MMO ended today, with Fallout 3 developer Bethesda losing the case. With this decision, Interplay will be able to continue development on the long-rumored MMO. The U.S. district judge also ruled that Interplay is free to continue publishing the triple-pack of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics.

According to Develop-Online, Bethesda has stated that Interplay should have communicated with them about the marketing of the Fallout triple-pack. Brand confusion among fans is pointed to as a downfall of the dual publishers distributing the similar post apocalyptic-flavored games.

I guess we’ll have to wait for more info on Interplay’s Fallout MMO, called Project V13, as it develops. Anyone else having a hard time imagining anyone beside Bethesda behind a massively multiplayer excursion in the wastelands?
