Assassin’s Creed II Gets Fixed

by Matt Miller on Dec 09, 2009 at 12:10 PM

Responding to several rare but problematic issues in Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft is releasing a patch that should resolve many of the known issues that have shown up in the game since launch.

The patch should be available today, Wednesday, December 9th for PS3, and on Friday, December 11th for 360. The most significant fix addresses a problem that had some gamers endlessly running in circles, trying to escape the hideout. According to Ubisoft, the issue arises for some users when they return to the present in sequence 11, and then turn off the game. Afterwards, they are no longer able to leave the hideout. If you’ve run into this dilemma, your frustrations are soon to end.

A long list of other bug fixes accompanies the patch, most of which seem to have been reported far less than the hideout hiccup, including occasional game crashes that occurred during the loading screen, and several unique and rare situations, such as the game locking up when aiming at a particular enemy with a particular weapon.

The new patch also adds sound support for 5.1 LPCM.

Many players on Ubisoft’s forums have requested an update that would allow for mission replays, a feature that won’t be implemented with the current patch. Are there fixes or improvements you’d like to see in Ubisoft’s otherwise strong game?
