Get Behind The Wheel With GT5 Time Trial Challenge

by Meagan Marie on Dec 04, 2009 at 03:26 AM

Polished renders will only sate ones appetite for so long. Sooner or later fans demand time behind the controller (or in this case, behind the wheel) of much anticipated games. Polyphony Digital is giving racing aficionados that chance on December 17.

December 17 will see Gran Turismo 5 playable via a single-track time trail featuring the Nissan 370Z. Available to download via the PlayStation Network, the time trial not only provides fans access to the game early, it’s also a chance to win an trip to the Indy 500 on May 30, 2010. The download will provide both stock and tuned versions of the 370Z, each with their own time trial challenge. In order to win the trip to the speedway, you must be the best of the best and master both tracks for the fastest combined time.

The contest is open to both residents of the U.S. and Canada (a winner will be chosen from each country) 18 or older. The prize includes much more than airfare and the hotel, as the top racers will also receive a VIP package with two passes to Carb Day (which includes the final Indy 500 practice, pit stop competitions, concerts and special event car rides) and access to Victory Lane for pre and post-race festivities. You’ll also get to enjoy the race from a swanky suite.

If you narrowly miss the grand prize, five runners up will be chosen and given vouchers for a download of Gran Turismo PSP. You’ll have plenty of time to practice, however, as the time trial challenge will run from December 17 till January 25. On January 25 the download will no longer be available, but those of you who participated in the challenge can keep racing till Gran Turismo 5 hits retail.

Any of you GT pros who plan on entering the challenge?
