Weekend Warrior 11/20/09

by Annette Gonzalez on Nov 20, 2009 at 11:48 AM

It's about that time of the week again where the GI staff starts winding down for a couple days of gaming. Read on to find out what we're playing then head on over to the comments section and let us know what games you're working on this weekend.

Andy Mc: I plan on finding out "The Truth" in Assassin's Creed II and will complete all the side missions I skipped in my sprint to the finish. After finishing Modern Warfare 2's single player campaign this week, I hope to do some SpecOps and multiplayer this weekend, as well as put in some more time with DJ Hero. Go Viks!

Reiner: Nick and I will be setting up two TVs in the same room for an entire day (probably 15 hours) of uninterrupted Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. As always, we'll kick off the day with a Buffalo Wild Wings run. Spicy garlic sauce is the key to high kill to death ratios!

Jeff Cork: As always, I have a pretty busy weekend ahead. Tonight I’m hoping to plow through the first Assassin’s Creed before digging into its sequel. This is embarrassing because 1) I never beat the first game and 2) I bought the sequel without having beaten the first game. I liked what I played, but after about the third chapter or so I started getting burnt out on the “sit on this bench and eavesdrop” missions. But tonight will be the night! I also got my racing wheel, so I’m going to drive around in circles in Forza 3 for a while as I drink adult beverages before inevitably crashing. Then it’s more Dragon Age: Origins. Ta dah!

Ben: Left 4 Dead, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, Modern Warfare 2 and Halo ODST are all begging to be played, but I haven't been able to stop myself from turning on Assassin's Creed II. Maybe I'll just give up sleep and food this weekend. Actually, since mom is coming in next week maybe I should clean. Nah, I'll just have her do it once she gets here.

Meagan: Not sure what's on my plate this weekend, but I have quite a stash of games to choose from. Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 are a must, but I've also been itching to play God of War II for some time, and need to figure out when to squeeze it in. Having too many games to play is never a bad thing. Let's just hope my 360 lasts long enough for me to polish off some of these titles. It seems to be on its last leg. Again.

Jeff Akervik: Borderlands, a little Tekken 6, Gophers hockey and some Vikings football. And I'll be curious to see if the Gophers football team can top their impressive 55-0 loss to Iowa from last year. It won't be pretty...

Tim: The first Assassin's Creed is a grind. There's no getting around it. Once I realized I have no interest in what Altair is up to in the plot, the game became a series of repetitive missions and unfair deaths. Nevertheless, I'm going to soldier through it so that I can play Assassin's Creed II, which sounds like a much better game. Beyond that, I hope for some successful Left 4 Dead 2 games, more Modern Warfare 2 multi, and maybe tracking down a few star coins in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's a good time to be a gamer.

Annette: I’m probably going to spend most of my weekend playing Modern Warfare 2 on Live with some friends from back home, but will also try to squeeze in some other titles. There are a few games on my list that I have yet to finish (something I'm not proud of, there's just so much awesomeness out there right now!) and instead of listing them here, I'll just say I'll be finishing those.

Nick: What Reiner said. Plus I'll be working more on a skateboard art project where I print one-of-a-kind skate decks with art on the for showing in a gallery.

Dan: This weekend will be dedicated to God of War Collection and Modern Warfare 2 for the most part. Started the original GOW last night and was amazed at how well it holds up almost five years later. I can't wait to get moving on GOWII. As for Modern Warfare, I'm hoping to finish the last four SpecOps missions on Veteran to grab the last two achievements I need. Then on Sunday night, I'll be playing Borderlands with the GI readers. Details here.

Jeff M: After putting it off for as long as I could, I finally broke down and bought Modern Warfare 2 this week. Monday and Tuesday night were spent playing through the campaign (and dabbling in the SpecOps missions alone), and every night since has been spent on the multiplayer battlefields. Man, this game is addictive. Unless my brother and I start L4D2 this weekend, I think I’ll be staying the course for the foreseeable future.

That's it for us. What's on your play list this weekend?
