2K Sports' fabled NBA 2K series is not only dunking with authority on rival NBA Live 10, but also the rest of the video game competition. According to the October NPD sales numbers, the 360 version of the game sold 311,000 copies after going on sale on October 6th, enough to capture fifth place. The PS3 edition, meanwhile, shifted 213,000 units and garnered 7th place.

This strong showing flies in the face of the game's host of problems at launch, and the series as a whole is thriving. "It was a great launch for the game," says NPD analyst Anita Frazier, "outselling last year's NBA 2K9 by 60 percent in its launch month." Frazier says that the game was the top game for the month across all platforms.
