Three Million Units of Modern Warfare 2 Shipped Across The Pond

by Adam Biessener on Nov 11, 2009 at 05:34 AM

UK site MCVUK is reporting that Activision sent approximately three million copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to the former Roman colony of Brittania to satisfy the anticipated demand.

For a nation of 61 million – just one-fifth the size of the U.S. – to purchase that many copies of a single game is remarkable. If U.S. gamers bought a proportional 15 million units of Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward would never have to work again.

We don't need to tell you that MW2 is going to obliterate all of its competition this year, but numbers like this put some perspective on things. This rivals the disparity in payroll between the New York Yankees and the rest of baseball – but Modern Warfare 2 creates genuine entertainment, as opposed to disgust at the Yanks buying another World Series title.
