Weekend Warrior 11/06/09

by Annette Gonzalez on Nov 06, 2009 at 10:52 AM

We play games at work and then we go home and play some more. Read on to find out what's on Game Informer's play list this weekend then head over to the comments section and let us know your game plan.

"Da Boss" (Andy Mc): After a fancy dinner with the wife, I hope to finish Borderlands, shake the house with some DJ Hero and watch a lot — and I do mean a lot — of NCAA and NFL football.

Reiner: If my legs don't atrophy then my weekend didn't go as planned. All I want to do is play Dragon Age: Origins. That's it. Any person who tries to pull me away from this game will be on the receiving end of a stern fist shaking (in my mind that's a flying ninja kick to the face, or a nuke in the pants). As I sink further and further into my chair, almost becoming one with it, I plan on keeping my energy high by drinking an assortment of sodas (any recommendations?) and eating nothing but Buffalo Wild Wings' delicious spicy garlic wings. Yes, I know—my weekend kicks ass.

Kato: Given it's the bye week for the Vikings, I'm definitely going to have some time on Sunday for Uncharted 2 (I've been making my way through it very slowly) as well as my new focus: NHL 10's Be a GM mode. I've held off on this mode since the game came out, but I plan on retooling the Minnesota Wild into the offensive juggernaut they ought to be.

Bertz: Tonight I'm going to the Future of the Left concert at First Avenue, which features former members of the kick ass Welsh punk rock band Mclusky. The rest of the weekend (outside of a wedding on Saturday night) will be spent exploring the world of Dragon Age. I feel bad starting the epic RPG right before I abandon it for Modern Warfare 2 next Tuesday, but the temptation to jump in is too great.

Jeff C: First up on my weekend agenda is dealing with the last boss in Borderlands. After he's gone (and I've scooped up all of his delicious loot) it's onto a bunch of other stuff. I'm having a great time with Dragon Age and my experiment with picking a character who would usually interest me least (female Dwarven Rogue with the commoner background) is turning out to be surprisingly fun. Then it's on to LEGO Rock Band. And Tekken 6. And Katamari Forever. I have to clear space for Modern Warfare 2, after all...

Dan: During the day I plan on grabbing those last two elusive achievements I need to get 100% in Borderlands and Tekken 6 (level 50 in Borderlands, all movies unlocked in Tekken), and there will most likely be bars involved at night. Once those games are done, I'm probably going to spend some time with all the games I grabbed from Steam that I've meant to get around to for years. As is always the case this time of year, Sunday will consist of pizza, football, video games and sitting through several cringe-worthy sketches from the latest Saturday Night Live.

Meagan: The next 48 hours is all about Resident Evil. Not wanting to be left alone all weekend since the husband is abandoning me to go hunting, Tim, Ben, Annette and a few others have agreed to crash at my place and attempt playing through all the Resident Evil games prior to RE4. With the combined power and knowledge base of all of us (I contribute nothing to the pot but beer), we may be able to speed run through the series in the next two days. Only Monday will tell.

Ben: Sounds like there is going to be a party at Meagan’s house where Tim and I school her in the glories of early Resident Evil games. Looks like my playthroughs of Borderlands, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Dragon Age: Origins and Assassin’s Creed II will have to be put on hold. It’s important that you help those less fortunate than yourself.

Annette: So I’m rather torn between Resident Evil weekend at Meagan’s and catching up on my pile of shame. I can get schooled on RE history, or finish up Uncharted 2 (almost done) and DJ Hero, start Borderlands and Ballad of Gay Tony, then finally catch up with Entourage (one of my new favorite shows). However, Meagan also mentioned something about crab cakes and beer. Alright I'm in.

Tim: I'll be acting as a flesh and blood Resident Evil strategy guide for Meagan as she attempts to catch up with the last 14 years of the survival horror genre. I wholeheartedly believe I may be the biggest RE nut in the office (don't tell anyone). Besides that, I'll likely squeeze in time to plug away at Borderlands (almost done!) and continue catching up on Assassin's Creed.

Phil: When I'm not busy experiencing the epic storyline of BioWare's fantastic Baldur's Gate-inspired Dragon Age, I'll be making myself more epic in World of Warcraft as my guild makes our first attempt at the Trial of the Crusader raid. If I'm not all gamed out from those two gigantic worlds, I'll try to squeeze in some more time traveling space in Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time. Any other free time will be devoted to my new goal of catching up on comics from the year that I've been out of reading them!

Nick: Me? Oh you mean me? Well I'll be finishing up Batman finally. You can blame Borderlands for the interruption. Beyond that, I plan on doing some serious nothing. Ahhhhh yes. Nothing. Well maybe I'll enjoy an episode or two of Castle. It's pretty funny even if it's pretty much a 1:1 clone of the show Bones (which was a grandson of Moonlighting)

Your turn. What's on your play list this weekend?
