Halo Waypoint Launches Today, Includes Retroactive Avatar Awards
It’s been almost a month since we first detailed Halo Waypoint on the site, so we won’t hold it against you if you forgot the new hub for all things Master Chief launches today. In addition to being a place where you can find exclusive developer interviews, trailers, and news related to Halo, Waypoint is launching with a few pretty cool perks, in the form of ODST Avatar awards (we were wondering where those went…).
By installing Halo Waypoint (both the download and service are free for Gold members), ODST will unlock Avatar awards based on earning certain in-game achievements. If you already earned the achievements, they will be instantly unlocked. Here they are:
Achievement Title | Achievement Description | Avatar Award |
Tourist | Accessed and downloaded the city map to your VISR. | ODST Black T-shirt |
Dark Times | Killed 5 enemies while using VISR mode. | ODST Hoodie |
Campaign Complete: Normal | Completed the Campaign on Normal difficulty. | ODST Rookie Helmet |
Good Samaritan |
Killed no Engineers in the city at night during |
ODST Full Body Armor |
Vidmaster Challenge: Endure | In Firefight, on any mission, pass the 4th Set on 4-player Heroic LIVE co-op. |
Recon Helmet (Male) |
As a special bonus for trying out Halo Waypoint, fans will receive their very own Monitor for their Avatars, modeled after 343 Guilty Spark. The Monitor will reportedly help users navigate Halo Waypoint, and find all the new information available from the service – including preview episodes of the upcoming anime series.
So what are you waiting for, Halo fans? Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments below!
