Assassin’s Creed Short Film Gets TV Premiere

by Matt Miller on Nov 04, 2009 at 06:46 AM

Spike TV announced today that it will premiere Assassin’s Creed: Lineage, the live-action short film that acts as a tie-in to the hotly anticipated Assassin’s Creed II, on November 11. It’s a big step for Ubisoft, and for video game tie-in films in general, but it’s too bad the film didn’t garner a more impressive time slot – AC fans will need to stay up until midnight to see the premiere in all its HD glory.

Assassin’s Creed Lineage is the product of Hybride Technologies. The company is known for its special effects work on movies like 300 and Sin City, and was acquired by Ubisoft in July of 2008. We expect Lineage to be the first of many cinematic ventures that tie in to major Ubisoft releases.

If you can’t wait for November 11, the film is already available online, as previously posted here. The film serves as a great intro to the storyline of Assassin’s Creed II; many of the film’s characters and their likenesses carry over into the game, which releases on November 17. Expect all sorts of intrigue and action connected to Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, father to Ezio – the main character of Ubisoft’s sure-to-be blockbuster game sequel.
