New Assassin’s Creed: Lineage Details Announced

by Jeff Marchiafava on Oct 20, 2009 at 08:41 AM

Fans waiting for the release of Assassin’s Creed 2 get can an early glimpse of what’s to come thanks to three short films Ubisoft are calling Assassin’s Creed: Lineage. The videos are being developed by Ubisoft’s own Hybride Technologies, the studio responsible for the stunning visual effects seen in Sin City and 300.

The first of the three episodes will debut on October 27th via YouTube, and tell the story of Ezio’s father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, in a mix of live action and CGI. The films will also introduce key characters from Assassin’s Creed 2, which include Lorenzo de Medici, who ruled Florence during the Renaissance and commissioned works from Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti, among others. It’s also worth noting that Lorenzo and his brother Giuliano were nearly assassinated on Easter Sunday in 1478, while attending mass in the Cathedral of Florence – a plan that was backed by the reigning Pope of the time, Sixtus IV! Talk about an awesome backdrop for a video game…

We’ll bring you more on Assassin’s Creed: Lineage as information becomes available. Until then check out the surprisingly violent trailer below.
