Eminem and Jay-Z Detail DJ Hero Renegade Contributions

by Meagan Marie on Oct 14, 2009 at 04:12 AM

Some time back Activision announced that DJ Hero will hit retail in two distinctive editions. The standard edition is to be joined by the DJ Hero Renegade Edition, spearheaded by artists Jay-Z and Eminem.

The Renegade Edition of DJ Hero includes a premium Renegade turntable and carrying case that conveniently converts to a DJ stand. Additionally, the two aforementioned artists have bundled exclusive compilations of their work with the special edition, adding their (non-playable) tracks to the 93 unique mixes native to the DJ Hero disk. That’s a whole lot of music in one bundle.

“Jay-Z and Eminem are two of the biggest selling artists of the last decade and have influenced music, arts, entertainment, fashion and technology around the world,” said Dan Rosensweig, president and CEO of Guitar Hero. “Their involvement with the game, especially the Renegade Edition and DJ Hero Renegade album, shows their commitment to being on the bleeding edge of entertainment.”

Today the pair unveiled their cherry-picked tracks that will debut in the CD 2-pack. On Jay-Z’s end, his first “best of” compilation will feature a single song from each of his 11 studio albums, plus the song he contributed to the film “Notorious.” Eminem’s involvement includes “deep album cuts, rarities” and the debut of his new song “Taking My Ball,” which will remain exclusive to DJ Hero Renegade album for a short period of time after its debut on Eminem’s Sirius XM Radio Channel, SHADE45.

“The tracks we put on this disc are mostly overlooked or rarer favorites of mine from all different parts of my career,” elaborated Eminem.  “I also put a brand new, unheard song on there so even the biggest fan has something new.”
