Scribblenauts Developer 5th Cell Plans To Go Beyond Handhelds

Indie developer 5th Cell of Scribblenauts fame is ready to move past handhelds to work on bigger projects. The buzzworthy DS title that brought a new meaning to word play took a little over a year to complete, but given more time, the team wonders what they may be able to accomplish.

Jeremiah Slaczka of 5th Cell told Gamasutra about the team’s plans for growth over the next few years, which include going beyond handheld systems.

“This year we’re actually done with handheld for original titles,” Slaczka says. “We’re not going to spend our stuff on new original titles. We’ll put that onto consoles.”

This includes an Xbox Live Arcade title that’s in the works. No details have been provided on the title other than “it’s going to be pretty big,” according to Slaczka.

“We’re very excited about it…it’s totally not ready to be announced,” he says. “It’s far away. The only thing that we’ve really announced is we’re working on console stuff and we’ll see where it goes.”
