Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Infiltrates Zen Pinball

by Meagan Marie on Oct 08, 2009 at 06:09 AM

Sadly, the days of Alien Crush, Full Tilt and Pinball Fantasies are behind us. The truth is, Pinball games don’t get the respect they deserve anymore. Especially popular in the 90s, the decline of pinball emulators corresponded with the downturn of the coin-op industry. Why? Perhaps pinball isn’t “hardcore” enough to appease modern gamers, despite the usually mature cheesecake artwork adorning the cases. Still, arcade pinball aficionados Zen Studios are fighting the good fight, recently having announced a partnership with Tecmo for the addition of a Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 table to their PSN hit Zen Pinball. Now that is hardcore.

The expansion table aims to bring brutality back to pinball, allowing gamers to play as super ninjas and explore the Sky City Tokyo themed table. Included in the multi-level playing field are ramps, hidden holes and patience-testing platform jumps. The Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 table will also feature five multiball game modes in order to do the notoriously difficult action franchise justice.

The table is one of several slated for release in the next few months and joins Zen Pinball’s Shaman, Tesla, El Dorado and V12 themed stages. We admire Zen’s ability to roll with the punches – working to keep the pinball platform relevant to current events in gaming. The expansion table is expected to release later this month.
