Ryo Taking Time Off From Avenging Father's Death To Race Sonic

by Dan Ryckert on Oct 07, 2009 at 10:25 AM

Fans of the Shenmue series have waited years to see the resolution of Ryo Hazuki's quest for vengeance. Sega has good news and bad news today for those fans. The good news is that they'll see Ryo's first video game appearance in almost a decade. The bad news is that he won't exactly be avenging his father's death...he'll be participating in some good-natured races against Sonic and company.

Remember the forklift sections in the original Shenmue? Like most of you, our first thought during those was "This is all well and good, but how would this forklift fare in a race against Dr. Robotnik and the Samba de Amigo chimp on a Super Monkey Ball course?" Well, that question will be answered in the spring of next year with Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. Not much is known about the title as of yet, but early trailers and press releases make it pretty obvious that this will be a Mario Kart-inspired racer featuring a host of SEGA characters.
